- Sharp-tipped knives can
puncture wetsuits and tubing
- Many predators mistake
reflective objects for prey
- Salt will rust all ferrous metals even stainless steel
- Divers can get caught in ghost nets and fishing lines.

With its ceramic coating, GripHook would optimize visibility while preventing oxidation, assuring the longevity of the blade. The ceramic coating would however increase the cost of manufacturing but also allow for cheaper steals to be used as the blade’s core.

Hook location and wrap variations were tested to experiment the ease of use and comfort. The sheath was designed to be magnetic and an open profile to increase the blade’s visibility and accessibility. Both vital features in an emergency.
